What is the difference between pipe cap and head  

 Cap: Fitted at the end of a pipe, welded or threaded, usually ellipsoidal.  The length of straight pipe section over head is generally used for small pipe with high pressure diameter.  

 Head: The end of a pipe or pressure vessel, usually round or tapered.  Large pipe diameter is more versatile.  

 Welded plug: acts as a blind but is generally welded and non-removable for small pipe sizes.  

 Blind plate: installed at the end of the pipe, may be a temporary interface or future interface, usually high pressure removable.
